What to Expect at Your Child's First Smile at Bee Happy
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that every child establish a dental home by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth erupting. At Bee Happy Pediatric Dentistry, we believe this first visit is one of the most important steps in building a lifetime of healthy smiles.
This visit is just as much about educating parents as it is about examining your child. You'll leave with practical guidance, personalized recommendations, and the confidence to support your child's oral health and development from the very beginning.
Your First Smile at Bee Happy visit includes
Comprehensive Infant Oral Examination
We'll gently examine your child's mouth, gums, tongue, lips, and teeth to ensure healthy growth and development. We'll check for early signs of tooth decay, evaluate oral development, and discuss any concerns you may have.
Gentle Cleaning and Fluoride Treatment
Depending on your child’s comfort, we'll gently clean the teeth and apply fluoride varnish to help strengthen enamel and protect against cavities.
X-rays (If Needed)
Most infants do not require x-rays at their first visit. If clinically indicated, we may take x-rays to get a closer look at how the teeth are forming.
Parent Education & Anticipatory Guidance
We'll spend time discussing what to expect as your child grows and provide personalized guidance on:
- Cleaning your baby's teeth and gums
- Nutrition and cavity prevention
- Bottle, breastfeeding, and sippy cup habits
- Pacifier and thumb-sucking habits
- Teething and fluoride recommendations
